California Love

Golden Gate Bridge

Every year, the massed ranks of Sunday Assembly from around the world get together to celebrate, share experiences and swap stories.

It’s a great opportunity to meet other people who want to build secular communities and realise that you’re not the only person who thinks that’s an utterly brilliant idea.

In the past, they’ve been held in London, Atlanta, Utrecht, San Diego, Edinburgh and Nashville. Amsterdam should have been next but the world went a bit weird for a couple of years. This year, though, it’s back in… East Bay, California.

It’s going to be held on the 15th – 17th July in a lovely building in downtown Oakland (allegedly ‘historic’ downtown Oakland but that’s by American standards. We’ll not hold it against them.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to explore the local area including, just across the Bay Bridge, San Francisco and volunteering opportunities too.

If you haven’t been to one of the conferences before, the best way to capture the feeling is this rather lovely video from Utrecht 2016:
