Yule Rock Cancellation – And What’s Happening Instead

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Yule Rock 2021 will no longer be happening at Conway Hall this year.

We’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the rapid spread of Omicron and we’ve heard concerns from across our much loved community. Several of our volunteers have contracted the virus over the past week. It is clear that preparing an in-person event has put undue pressure on our band, choir, and front-of-house volunteers as well as putting all attendees’ health at risk – some of whom are hoping to travel far and wide to see their loved ones this Christmas.

But we don’t want to cancel completely. Instead, technology will transport the event to wherever you are! We can still come together and celebrate our community.

So, we’re swinging our virtual doors wide open once more and welcoming all who’d like to come. This Friday’s event will be free for all regardless of whether or not you purchased a ticket to Yule Rock. If you purchased a Yule Rock ticket, it will be fully transferable to any one of Sunday Assembly London’s ticketed events in 2022. As soon as the dates and further details of these events are known we will let you know.

You being at Yule Rock makes all the difference and we want to say a huge thank you for supporting our community during these difficult and uncertain times. We may be classed as a ‘small charity’ but we come with big hearts and decibels that knock people’s socks off. Here’s the link to register.

For full effects, here are some essentials to bring to “Omi-Rock-In 2021”:

  •     Most sparkly or cringe-worthy festive attire
  •     Bubbles and drinks of your choice
  •     Props for those air instrumental moments
  •     Wireless headphones (depending on your neighbours)

We’ll be hosting a raffle on the night and have some more little surprises for you, but above all, we’ll be dancing and singing the night away together.

We’ll keep you updated over the next two days, but if in the meantime you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to email Trustees@sundayassembly.com

So, stay with us and let’s get this party started!

From Jessica, Chair and Stephanie, Producer

PS: Please also note that due to re-focusing our efforts on running a virtual event this Friday, we have also decided to cancel our last assembly of the year, which would have been this Sunday. We hope to reschedule physicist Harry Cliff and poet Megan McKie-Smith in 2022.
